New Foreword – by Daniel O’Beeve
In the beginning, this story had nothing to do with me.  In the beginning, I did not even exist!
My story might never have been told, except that Professor Valises fell asleep on the long, winter night-shift, and his PA, Loola Kalata, took advantage of her new found freedom to direct the Intergalactic Federation’s steerable wormhole machine to a region of space once considered to be solely occupied by a few uninteresting asteroids.  Instead of re-finding well known asteroid belts, she discovered a new blue-green planet which clearly was occupied by living beings.
This planet was first listed as Planet 3EX771, and later renamed to the label used by the inhabitants: Earth!
